Some people can find that they are paying attention to the clouds, and not to their surroundings, and can be prone to tripping those around them. And some people can be more prone to getting tripped. And it’s your own responsibility to become aware of the situations where you tend to focus on the clouds, and where you need to educate yourself on how to stop from (accidentally) tripping those around you. And then when you’re confronted by someone who has injured knees and palms, it’s not the time or place to take the attention away from them to tell them that you were unaware that your actions were about to trip them. They’ve been tripped, they’re on the floor injured. That’s the part that matters.

I have been thinking about this too, and losing friends because of this. I am also a disabled WW and it feels like I didn't fix myself quickly enough or gracefully enough or according to the wishes of some WW friends who are 1) busy "saving" other people, or 2) withdrawing bc they're scrambling to "fix" themselves before offering witness and community, or 3) just barricading themselves inside whatever comfort they've amassed bc shit is not fixable. I have been struggling with articulation of the problem so now I want to go find your original video.... is it still up?

I can see what you're saying. I saw my mom even do this to herself after she got ALS. Can't speak for everyone but for her it stemmed from a lifetime of culturally prescribed self abandonment. You had to figure out what was "wrong" and fix it or no one will like you, nothing could just...be a part of you that people accommodate because it's human. I think you have a point to saying it's gendered. Of course it is, how we are socialized in society is gendered and there's not any way around that right now. It's like some puritanical mandate on the female gender that perfection is not only possible, but achievable and their responsibility.

having MS this has been my experience as well. I prefer the mens,that's ruff over have you tried doing this or that. this also makes me look at myself and the times I have been the white woman fixer. makes me think about the big five personality traits and perhaps white women share in some of them.
