play the mind not their wallet. not everyone has hundreds or thousands to spend on their deck. someone rocking up to play magic with their 1-200 dollar deck they managed to trade or find cheap cards for might beat a thousand dollars deck but if they get absolutely stomped by said deck are they gonna continue playing? honestly it seems like the players that are anti proxy are the ones that spend ludicrous amounts of money on their decks and just don't want people to have the same power without spending the money they did

This is my cornerstone antiproxy argument. Most players need to build cheap decks to learn how to build and play...by the time they're ready for expensive cards they'll have trade fodder store credit and other resources to support the builds.

I've come full circle, I build decks with similar effect cards to staples that are "weaker" or have downsides cause they make the game more dynamic and fun for the whole table.

Only time I would proxy is to change the are on something like sonic the hedgehog, I would make him into Wally West but still have the same abilities. Also I would have the real card on stand by just incase they don’t wanna have me playing with proxy cards

Nah depends on why you’re making proxies. If you’re doing it over power everyone sure. If you’re doing to to save cost, play a fun card or do cEDH the. It’s fine. Sorry if I play cEDH I’m not dropping 10k for a deck.
