@headspace: Four tips you can keep in your mental health toolkit to use anytime, anywhere, when stress strikes: TIPP tools 👇 🧊 Temperature: Holding an ice cube, dunking your face in cold water, or soaking in a cold plunge activates the mammalian dive reflex, slowing your heart rate and calming the nervous system. 👟Intense physical activity: When your body is revved up by stress or anxiety, it’s primed for action – but often left to sit in fight-or-flight. Even just a short bout of exercise, like jumping jacks or dancing, can work to expend that pent-up energy and bring you back into the present. 💨 Paced breathing: When we’re distressed, our breathing intensifies — but by intentionally breathing deeply into the stomach and slowing the pace of our inhales and exhales, we signal to the brain that we’re not in actual danger. 🤜 Progressive muscle relaxation: When stress is high, we carry that tension in our bodies.
