This sort of happened to me. I was 16 wks pregnant when I applied for a job, was interviewed same day, and hired on the spot. At every step, I told them my due date, that I was having a planned c section, and was needing to be out 12 weeks, and knew it would be unpaid. They said no problem. I applied officially through our hr website at exactly 91 days into working for them ft. Was approved. Printed the approval. New manager was hired when I was roughly 8 months, so I let him know, and reapplied for the time off. Approved, printed out approval. Worked my last shift, during which I emailed all of the area managers that I was going to be back in 12 weeks. Three days after, I started getting calls asking why my store wasnt open. Three weeks in, I received COBRA paperwork. I was never even notified I was being termed.

The fact that this happened to me twice. The first one was almost exactly like this, except it wasn’t for my wedding. It was to meet my in-laws who live in another country. And the second time was for my wedding. They ended up giving me two days off, the day before and the day of my wedding.

My old boss tried to tell me she wasnt sure if she would be able to give me the day of my wedding off because someone else wanted to take their vacation a little earlier. I told her one way or another i was not coming in 🤷🏻♀
