It’s the timing of it really. She was already hated in the fandom before that, just basically betrayed Barry in a very harsh way and then tries to say that she’s just as important to being the flash as Barry is. At least that’s how it came off with her single making decisions without including Barry.

Im in enemy territory but im up for debates just entering the 9th season for the second time. Firstly, it might be a metaphor but it was constantly used to manipulate Barry. This doesn’t just apply to Iris, i dislike her for different reasons, but the entire team did it at some point. Secondly, wouldn’t it make more sense to say “we are a team” instead of attempting to morph everyones ideals and beliefs into one? Its one thing to disagree with your LEADER, its another to throw him in a cell and get his dad kidnapped. The entire team’s dynamic was extremely toxic which is why im glad Barry runs solo in the comics.

People don’t hate her for that one sentence. It is weird tho for how often people bring up this moment. Iris really started getting the hate (deservedly) for when she said she didnt care that thawne killed barry’s mother or that nora was working with him.
