@plumbingdoctors: Replying to @domtuk2000 You can flush microbore systems 🚿 but treat with caution ⚠️ Most don’t leak, but there’s always a chance 💧 If the system isn’t sealed (no gauge, no filling loop), it’s more problematic. Worst case—upgrade to 15mm pipe 🔧 #MicroboreHeating #HeatingEngineer #PlumbingTips #BlockedPipes #PipeUpgrade
lots of copper microbore in 8mm can be over 40 years old so add in the years of build up on the internal bore then you won't get a decent flow rate to be effective.

RAK Powerflushing Ltd :
In peak Powerflushing season we do 2-3 microbore systems a week, nationwide, with 100 % success rate so far. Worse case scenario for microbore is plastic 10mm on a vented system, the debris gets stuck in the inserts, it can be resolved using net curtain wire. 8 and 10mm copper is no issue, by default we use KAMCO’s FX2 chemical to clean the system and it’s never let us down. The biggest problem for microbore is people not knowing what they’re doing and not having the correct equipment, it’s a specialist job and should be left to the specialists.

J & S Plumbing and Heating :
The reason it won’t work is because the sludge moves and you get a build up in the manifolds/ reducers and makes it worse. If you have microbore, the best option is to remove the reducers and fit new ones and it will be brand new again. Don’t need a Powerflush 90% of the time.

Dan Morris :
id do 10mm sealed or open vented. 8mm is too small, because you end up blocking it up when it compacts into a bend or fitting. waste of time and money and end up making it worse. it being sealed or open vented doesn't make a difference

The original microbore systems had a manifold thats why people were reluctant to flush them the new builds that have the small pipes today are fine to flush they dont have the manifolds anymore

It’s not a worry about fitting blowing it’s a worry that the pipework or mainly the manifold gets blocked
