Also, you notice they immediately start thinking of their abusive response the second they hear one word they don’t like, so they don’t bother to listen to 90% of what you just said. You can literally watch the little wheels turning in their head while you are finishing your sentence.

Saw a dog and said it was a beautiful mastiff. Husband laughed and said, “St. Bernard” and told my kids I was wrong. Dude walking the dog came over and talked to the kids. It was a mastiff. This happens ALL THE TIME.
