After being on kpoptwt for 3 or so years during and after the pandemic, SEA fans have some of the most dedicated and well organised fanbases when it comes to streaming and promoting their favourite groups. People underestimate how large the broader fan populations are in that region because they span across so many countries, but there’s a reason they’re never forgotten about in touring schedules.

no one important :
people gotta understand that the international audience has heavily carried the kpop industry, bts and their fans and their petitions ALONE made it possible for all kpop groups and their albums to be bought and sold in stores in the biggest music market in the world, to this day US and Japan are the top two markets they target internationally

your point about how american fans (and western fans more generally) are wayyyy more likely to be multi stans is such a key element here honestly. because liking kpop is already a subculture, the identity is more about being a kpop stan in general and less about the specific group. maybe you could divide a lot of people into bg/gg stans, but still.

It is always good to get a foreign member in a group such as someone from Australia, US, Phillipines, Japan, China and etc because they are able to draw in a bigger and separate audience which brings in more views which brings in more money, brands, shows, awards and so on

Nearly every group I actively support is made up of all Korean members and they are mostly ignored by domestic audiences and anyone else who only cares about the Big4 so the “keep it Korean” peeps only have themselves to blame

need kpop stans who complain about the "westernization of kpop" and how we need to "keep kpop korean" need to realize that kpop as an industry literally would not exist without western influence (more specifically, Black American influence).

I feel like people underestimate C and J fans like Exo and Twice are popular in Korea but they are massive in China and Japan, till this day Exo is the no.1 boy group in china even tho everywhere else it's BTS and I-fans just prefer anyone whose talented no matter the nationality

OG commenter would be GAGGEDDDD by X:in and BlackSwan. It’s wild to me how this is being discussed as if Suju and Miss A didn’t have Chinese members 10+ years ago. Like kpop groups been having foreign members wbk

Just to clarify, Hong Kong clearly is part of China, I think you may refer to not mainland China. Since K-pop shows banned in mainland China, a lot of mainland K-pop fans going to Hong Kong and Macau to see their idols. And they are the main audience of the show, the show specifically catered to China fans, and mainly mainlanders. That’s why you will listen those Korean idols singing Mandopop songs on the concerts in Hong Kong and Macau, whereas the two cities mainly speak Cantonese.
