My grandma used to make my grandpa “leftover spaghetti sandwiches“ for his lunch. She would chop and render bacon, pour in a can of crushed tomatoes and cook it down till it was a sauce. 😂. It was actually good, but not spaghetti. But anyway onto the sandwich. Buttered white bakery bread with a layer of crumbled, ground beef, sautéed with onion, and topped with the spaghetti,. It’s friggin awesome.

When my dad was in an orphanage in the 60's they would send him to school with a pickle loaf sandwich every day and he grew a loathing for it. My mom loved pickle loaf though and every time my dad would see it in the refrigerator he would sneer.

This actually seems pretty good! If I may suggest another for "Sandwiches of Our History": White bread, whatever kind is on sale (toasted), peanut butter (crunchy, smooth, doesn't matter), hard-fried egg, banana slices, and jalapeños. It was a pregnancy sandwich for my aunt and I ended up loving it.
