What triggers you to switch? Is it curiosity or issues? I feel like when you found a good setup you stick with it? I can't imagine taking time to move all the time.

Claude user here, claude likes to do extra things you didnt asked him to. For instance last night he forgot to include library dependency check and ibstead of just adding those 3 lines, he also tried reverse engineering those libraries and run its self out of tokens.

I have been using cursor on Windows and it has been a complete nightmare between windows and WSL Linux. I have gotten so far on my sass business management tool multi-tenant situation very proud of myself. I just switched to Claude code and it's life-changing. I was spending 60% of my development time fighting with cursor because of windows and WSL Linux. Right before I switched the agent caused a lot of bugs and I couldn't even start my server. within 2 hours Claude code had it up and running. my experience has been using multiple models is best. I want to learn how to switch between codex and Claude code. I never want to see cursor again. if I do this I just want to know do I need a Linux laptop or is it all going to work fine on Windows since I've been traumatized with cursor.
I need to research how to put codex on my laptop. I had codex integrated into cursor and actually it was codex that messed up my code so badly and kept going between windows and Lenox even though I said use only Linux. I hope you do a video on how to switch between the two Claude code and codex and how to put codex on the computer. like right now there's a bug that cloud code can't figure out that codex had already figured out but ended up breaking.

I currently use GitHub copilot with vscode. I use STT when instructing agents. I tried codex in vscode, but it doesn’t have built in STT like GitHub copilot. That’s the only thing holding me back from running both side by side. I don’t like windows speech recognition. It needs cursor focus, which doesn’t play well with multi tasking.

Permission model in codex is shocking - ask for everything or ask for nothing

only downside to codex native in vacode is the inability to add some mcps. was a massive Claude user but just wouldn't do what you asked it too

Wow thoughtful stuff man. I will say I do disagree with your take on the use of extra features. Subagents in CC make or break some of my projects. But I also didn’t realize how incredible Codex’s GitHub integration was. Helpful video thanks

As a heavy CC and codex user there’s a lot you said I agree with but one thing I couldn’t disagree more is regarding permissions. I find Codex’s sandbox extremely hard to configure. Want to use the same ‘gh’ cli you use in the terminal? Good luck doing that in codex unless you to toggle their equivalent of yolo mode. Want to prevent the agent from ever running ‘git reset’? There’s nothing you can do but sit at your desk and manually approve every command. I noticed you haven’t mentioned hooks - hooks are an incredibly powerful and underutilized tool for agentic coding. I have hooks that run linters, and formatters. Hooks that catch sycophancy and automatically steer the AI back towards usefulness. Hooks for notifications and sounds. Anyway, rant over.
