It's about who society think is the oppressor. I'm guessing older civilisations felt threatened by nature and the unknown so they made myths about humans beating nature, beating oppression. We now feel safe, believe nature has been conquered and that it is the underdog against mankind, and humans like stories about the underdog winning.

No. Future historians will have so much access to information that they will view us the way we view ourselves right now. They won’t have to make guesses about how the times were. Literally everything is cataloged. You have such a small way of viewing things
