I’m an RDH and that’s called tarter/ calculus. Plaque is only when it’s soft & removable with a toothbrush. It’s also more common for build up in that area bc of the salivary gland under the tongue. However the instrument is suited for fhe back teeth bc it has that bend in it & it is also being held very wrong😭. There’s also still a lot of calculus that is not visible that can be found under your gums. I would really suggest getting a cleaning from a professional just so you don’t damage anything!

Tartar (hard plaque) isn’t normal, however plaque is! make sure to brush every morning and every night to keep it from hardening, it can’t harden if you brush it away. I would recommend going to a dentist to remove any tartar because if you do it wrong, you can cause further issues and that really will cost a lot of money to repair.
