Being that mom of one who is not full blown Autistic. I do want answers because I don't understand how he is and my other 2 aren't but have ADHD. I am also curious as to what is causing more kids having it. I do understand it's been around for generations but I would like answers.

My sons are level one BUT I worked in group homes with profound autism children and adults and have seen how hard it is. I’m with the profound autism parents on this one. If something will help profound autistic children and their parents want to try it I fully support them.

how did we go from one extreme to the other. 15 years ago everyone assumed autistic was the most extreme cases. and now we think everyone can function almost normally. we need to stop the on the spectrum ideas and re do it the way it should be. and I say that as someone who has worked with them in group homes, and someone who has a child with aspergers. (even though it's not a thing anymore)

Yes, because there has to be something bad about figuring oh why children are getting autism and why they’re nonverbal there must be something bad about trying to prevent something like this from happening. We can still love all of them our children nieces nephews it doesn’t mean we love them less but I for one would love to know how to make it easier for my niece to survive in this world.

I was just arguing with a lady today about this and she tried to claim I wanted to eliminate children with autism and said it was eugenics. And this lady claimed to work with special needs children. The best part is she tried to claim her experience having a child with ADHD was comparable to my 11 year old non verbal low functioning grandson who will never be able to take care of himself. These people have lost their minds.

My son was passed off as ADHD until 11. He was never hyperactive. After his 2 yr pokes he regressed to non-verbal until he was 5 and even then he had no attention span for school work. He still learned everything he was taught but couldn’t ever express it on paper. We refused to medicate him. He is now 19 with the emotional capacity of a 15 year old. I get angry when I see the reports coming out about every choice i made when he was so young and blindly believing the doctors. I feel like they stole his ability to grow and develop properly. We are putting our foot down with the grandchildren.
