@myleebankston: If you’ve ever read the words “Walk in Love” while reading the Bible, it probably felt simple enough. Be kind. Be patient. Forgive people. Basically, just be a “good Christian.” But God is calling us into something much deeper. Walking in love is about living a holy life, standing out, and shining a light in a world that feels increasingly dark. And sometimes that feels heavy or hard to do. Because in today’s culture, holding to biblical truth can get you labeled fast as: “intolerant,” “judgmental,” “out of touch,” or “harsh.” Our culture has redefined love as silence and passivity. But here’s the truth: Jesus didn’t live His life or love people that way. He ate with outcasts. He touched the untouchable. He showed compassion to the broken and the overlooked. But He also spoke truth directly, even when it was uncomfortable. He never softened sin to avoid conflict, and He never diluted the gospel or truth just to make it easier to swallow. If Jesus had loved by staying quiet, none of us would know the freedom we have in Him today. That’s why Paul’s words in Ephesians 5 hit so hard. Paul reminds believers over and over again that how we live and what we tolerate matters. He says, “Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.” Expose. That word feels uncomfortable, doesn’t it? Because exposing something feels risky and confrontational. And yet, Paul isn’t telling us to go around pointing fingers or shaming people. He’s saying: Don’t make peace with sin. Don’t blur the line between light and darkness. Don’t confuse compromise with compassion. Why? Because we’ve been called out of darkness into light. We’ve been rescued. And when we minimize or justify the very things Jesus died to set us free from, we’re not showing love, we’re living deceived. Love that never speaks truth and avoids hard conversations isn’t real love. Real love risks discomfort to point people toward life. Real love shines light into darkness. And real love, anchored in Jesus, changes everything. Friend, the most loving thing we can do isn’t to stay silent, but to walk in truth that sets people free.
