honestly even a slow trot will outrun zombies. canter is used to get away so you are not surrounded. once infront of the horde you trot to get distance. then you can slow down to a fast walk to conserve energy once distance is established. im a zombie and horse nerd lmao

I might be a little off on percentages here however… when a horse canters they carry 60% of their weight on their front end and 40% on the back end. However when they trot it is closer to 50/50, hence why they are able to trot further for longer
