@blackamericanbadboy: Replying to @hope4thabest Weird Dating Question, Pt. 2 | This is a bad question. Please, reframe it. That man did not owe her any type of proper response. Whether acceptance or rejection, he did what was right for him and his reaction was valid. We're not going to dismiss men's feelings on this side. Take that to one of them panderers.
I'm a 64yr old white woman
What matters is the heart and that can not be determined in a few dates, much less a few sentences.
everyone says they don't want to waste time spending it with the wrong person. The only way you will know is by spending time together. Kahil Gibran says, and I'm parsphrasing. " To really know someone, don't listen for what they say, but rather listen for what they do not say". in dating, you have to get past the " good behavior" stage. The audition is usually not authentic either. They may appear wonderful on paper: career, family, genes, education, hobbies, friends, bank acct. etc.
but non of it matters unless your goal is status and security. This is not a recipe for marriage. You can not learn to love and respect someone because they provide what you want. What you want and what you need are not the same. What you need is a safe place for your heart and to be a safe place for theirs.

Hope :
I don’t feel there was any malintent in the question you just asked me. I do think it’s important to know family medical history and health history. A lot of things are genetic. Some families are crazy. I don’t think the question is wrong. Maybe it’s just how she said it.

The question is problematic because it is vague and pretentious, giving off a pseudo-profound tone rather than offering genuine clarity. The phrase “a man’s legacy” is ambiguous, and instead of sparking real connection, it makes her sound as if she is interviewing him. Ultimately, it puts the man in a defensive position by placing her in the role of judging his worthiness without providing clear criteria, which risks shutting down authentic conversation. This is a wierd question!!

Flip it on them & ask her for her family’s medical history. Any cancer history? Heart disease? Drug addiction? Sickle cell? Are you gonna drop dead & leave me alone to raise all these kids? Are my insurance premiums gonna skyrocket because of your lineage. Throw these insane disqualifying questions back at them.

It's so much easier to simply ask "Tell me about your family."
Who in the hell asks someone that question the way that she did in real life
More and more, I'm seeing that people have no bloody clue how to talk to each other then have the nerve to be confused as to why they're either single and/or have no friends.
