My mom would whistle, we all came running. I raised my kids the same. I find it annoying that people get annoyed by it. Someone always gives a dirty look.

my mom whistled for me when i was a kid. i did it to my son for the first time when he was two and he stopped dead in his tracks (he's a runner) it must've engraved something in my DNA 🤣🤣

Started doing that with my son as soon as he began to walk; now he's 16yo and we still doing it. We have a distinct whistle. Still works.

My dad trained us kids to a really high pitch whistle. Wanna know if dad’s in the crowd watching? He will whistle super loud for ya. Dad needs ya and ya wondered of in the store? Better find the source of that loud whistle and quick. Kinda like dogs
