People who argue that Kotoyuki was manipulative or abusive don't really understand the plot at all. Through many details we see that Kotoyuki aka werefox was also in the same position as Hinako except he never got to be a kid and have friends or freedom, and he loved/cared for Hinako since they were kids but he was forced into this situation and never lived his childhood, so in a way the best ending for both of them is for them to live their lives and enjoy their freedom away from societal pressures and expectations and if they are meant to be, they will find each other when they are both ready!

Kotoyuki was literally possessed by a fox demon. there’s still him inside of there trying to care for Hinako. His parents abused him too.. he’s just a man so he gets it’s even just the slightest bit easier than she does.

i’m not they shippers, but i understand his pov too. Yeah what he did was still wrong, but again he didn’t have much choice too. he was a son from a family that always getting tied with a tradition, and that leading him to not have his own will on everything, even his own life. So that make him think what the best for him and hinako was for them to getting married, and he think if that was the right thing to do. So that’s why in the true ending, he finally realize if both of them was not ready for that, especially for hinako. So letting her go and make her own decision for her future is the best thing ever he can do. In the end both of them agree to canceled their wedding and this time it was their choice not their family or the tradition, but it was their choice.
