Before I get any more comments about it, I am aware the hurricane has changed course and is no longer a threat. That’s why I spoke in past tense here! Haha

You’re in Charleston ? I’ve learned that if the cow isn’t coming down we don’t worry😂😂. I’ve been here for five years and the first year I panicked but now it’s business as usual during hurricane season.

Hey I like in Charleston you’ll likely be fine even in the worst of them Publix is usually open the next day and if you’re really in a pinch some fast food restaurant will be open too

The trick is you just don’t care. I say “ok” and go on about my day

The three signs to look for: 1. The Coburg cow comes down 2. Jim cantore shows up and 3. Waffle House closes… if all 3 of these come true, then it’s time to panic🤣 Welcome girly!🥰

As an almost native, I never stress it unless it's a Cat 3 or higher, but you should absolutely have a revolving and replenishable hurricane kit. Hurricane season is May - November so half the year with potential hurricane activities.

As a Charleston local you only panic with Bessie the cow comes down and Waffle House closes

Lesson 1: don’t stress too soon! Lots can happen between the time you hear about it and when it’s supposed to arrive!

As someone that’s lived here a long time, unless WaHo closes or specifically Bessie the cow comes down- it’s nothing. Bessie coming down is level 2 spook. WaHo closing is the “uh oh” alarm

I’ve been here for 19 years. I don’t start to stress or panic until the Coburg cow comes down and Waffle House closes. I do have water and non perishables normally so as a 1st timer you did great 😂😂

Hurricane Helene hit us pretty bad last year. It took us months to recover because our infrastructure is not built for hurricanes! I went 8 days without power 😭

I lived here a few years, moved away, moved back. Our first hurricane here, we went to five guys during the storm before everything closed at noon and then played games until it passed 😂. The cow did come down for that one. I havent ever had to evac. I get water, have lights and battery packs charged up, and propane for cooking on the blackstone and a plan to eat the freezer for a few days. The surprise ice storm we had in like 2013 was worse than any hurricane I have sat through. :)

Moved from the Midwest 4 years ago.. we usually get tropical storms from the hurricanes. Charleston will always flood but the water gets pumped back out quickly!
