One of the craziest werewolf transformations Ive ever seen was Hemlock Grove. The added realism of the flesh being forced to take on the werewolf shape grows and pushing out the pre-existing organs to make room for the new form, instead of just magically growing a snout adds so much more to the sequence and highlights the horror and beng transformed into a whole new creature.

Maybe I’m autistic but I LOVE when fantasy explains how things work, it makes everything feel more real!

realism is what makes fantasy interesting, because clear limitations encourage creativity

Realism is what makes fantasy feel immersive. Jon Snow can't fly in Game of Thrones. Is that realism ruining fantasy? No, its adding a foundation of realism to immerse the viewer

why would the werewolf burn? I thought the transformation would be limbs distorting and canine teeth pushing out the human teeth as they grow

Imagine a flaming werewolf as a result of using so much energy to transform? That would be cool.

Everything in every genre of fiction even though isn’t real it still operates on some type of realistic scale for example Superman can fly and lift tanks but when gets hit with something with a lot of force it sends him flying back like what would happen in real life.

It's akin to magic users suffering plasma burns from casting lightning, or having their own life force drained when they use healing, it makes things interesting and more importantly it tells a deeper story even if it's subtle.

I'd say that realism is one of the most fun aspects of writing fantasy or magic. you create something absurdly fantastical and then give it limitations and explain how it works is very fun and most of the time just makes it more interesting (like the guy bursting into flames)
