Building valuations are based on net operating income (how much a building generates in rent, minus expenses) so having vacant units decreases the value of the building. Vacant units at high asking prices does nothing to preserve the building value.

I’m concerned about the one currently being built in sunset by mohawk. It’s been under construction for a while now, it’s massive. I cannot imagine for whatever price they will be renting places out for that it will ever be totally filled.

The ONLY way they got the permits to build those was they had to be mixed use, but it was just a scam to get the permits. No intention of actually making those functional mixed use spaces.
