You’re doing important work. Suggestion, it’s better to say “enslaved people” as opposed to “slaves.” The term “slave” removes the humanity of enslaved people, and reduces them to a condition of being property. Using the term“enslaved people” makes the point that slavery was something done to people as opposed to it being who they are. Keep up the great work!

Additionally, slavery was ended in America because slaves were freeing themselves all over the Americas, nd this country realized it was only a matter of time before a real revolt would happen in. They also realized that slavery ended elsewhere in the region and America was actually one of the last countries to abolish slavery in the Americas. Mexico, Britain, France, and Denmark had established freedom for enslaved people before the 13th Amendment was passed in 1865.
