@sporteverywhere_gym: THE VAULT NO ONE CAN LAND 🚨 Prior to Simone Biles debuting the Yurchenko Double Pike in competition, another vault was regarded as the pinnacle of difficulty in women’s gymnastics. The Produnova — once known as the “vault of d*ath” due to its extreme difficulty and high risk of injury — consists of a front handspring onto the table, followed by two front somersaults in a tucked position. Russian’s Yelena Produnova was the first woman to successfully perform it in 1999, and it took 12 years before another female gymnast attempted it in competition. This vault has been heavily downgraded over the past 15 years: its start value dropped from 7.1 in 2009 to 6.0 in the current Code of Points. #gymnastics
