Dozens of federal agents swarmed downtown Chicago on Sunday and took several people into custody during their patrol, according to local reports. They were unsuccessful, however, in apprehending one man who appeared to yell something at them. The man managed to escape on his bicycle, despite the agents’ best efforts. The incident came on the same day that President Trump deployed 200 National Guard troops to Portland, Oregon, and just a few days after armed U.S. Border Patrol officers were spotted on boats cruising down the Chicago River. “This is not making anybody safer — it’s a show of intimidation, instilling fear in our communities and hurting our businesses,” Illinois’ Democratic governor, JB Pritzker, said in a statement. #chicago #immigration #ice #trump #politics
