All of this, 100%. This is literally what I've been thinking since before that recent tweet. Back when the movie came out he said basically the same thing. This isn't out of the blue. But clearly he did intent for his movie to be a commentary on Palestine and Israel. Boravia has a star on its flag (idc if it's from the comics, my point still stands), Jahranpur has a similar map shape to Palestine and they have similar flag coloring, and everyone in Boravia seems to be lighter skinned and everyone in Jahranpur are darker skinned...... not to mention Jahranpur is a desert climate. And they're dressed in more middle eastern influenced clothing. James Gunn is really freaking smart. I see what he's doing and I have major respect 🙌 I want him to continue being extremely anti conservative in his shows and movies. We need that right now

Exactly, whether Gunn admits the metaphor was intentional or not is irrelevant, the movie made a loud statement. People fed up with Palestinian suffering resonated with it, and that’s what counts. Superman, even at the surface level, raised awareness and became part of the movement. His shows and movies aren’t subtle about their messages anyway. What he says through art and how audiences receive it is more important. I 100% believe he just said that to not lose his job lol

Why don’t people get that just because he doesn’t outright say it, doesn’t mean he didn’t mean it? It’s all about intention man. I truly do believe Gunn can’t actually say anything about Palestine but he does stand for Palestine. It’s through his actions and intent that we know. Hopefully, when Palestine is free one day, he can finally say something.

Are we forgetting what happened to Melissa Berrara? How Jenna Ortega got harassed by execs for supporting Palestinians. We saw Gunn get fired over nonsense before. They will push him out if he’s openly antizionist. Sure if he brave to be open about it but it’s not smart in long term. He’d be surrendering dc studios & all the power to push a progressive ideals with audiences. Then dc would get nothing or we would get someone conservative or centrist or politically constipated.
