We went in just to hear baby’s heartbeat 💓… but got a pregnancy plot twist instead. I found out I’m a carrier for 2 genetic conditions 🧬: • G6PD Deficiency – a blood condition that mostly affects boys and can cause anemia if triggered by certain foods or meds. • Genetic Hearing Loss – a condition that can cause kids to slowly lose hearing if both parents carry it. Now my husband has to get tested too to see if our baby is actually at risk. I’d be lying if I said this didn’t bring on a wave of anxiety and nerves…because of course it did. But here’s what I keep reminding myself: no matter what those results say, we already love this baby just the same, with our whole hearts 🤍. I’m sharing this because nobody really talks about the emotional side of genetic carrier testing, and I don’t want other parents to feel alone if they get news like this.
