I take great pride in my connection with each kid that resides here at HHHH. I know their highest highs.. and when they are at their lowest lows. Last night when I got off my bartending shift, I noticed Tank was quiet and just not acting like himself. So as the clock struck midnight, I hitched the trailer, loaded Tank and off we went to the hospital. I was so nervous that in his state he was going to fall in the trailer. I took every turn slow, but kept my foot on the gas knowing we couldn’t waste anytime. My hands gripped the steering wheel like our life depended on it, and I kept one eye on the nose of the trailer, watching Tank through the window. I had attached one of my head lamps to his blanket, so I could see that his body was standing the entire time.. and right around 2 am, we pulled into the hospital. The staff is always amazing, and his Dr. got right to work checking Tank’s bl00d work and seeing what was going on. As we suspected, he needed a bl00d transfusion due to loosing too much from the surgical site. While he was only dripping a little bit each day, which was expected, over the last week those little bits added up. Today around noon I got word that as the transfusion and fluids finished, Tank was back to his normal self, eating hay and being a happy boy. I am so proud of Tank and how we weathered last night together. Every so often I would stop to check on him in the trailer, and I’d remind him- it’s you and me buddy. You fight, I fight. And Tank never for a second looked like he was going to give up. I was so tired, but the fuel in me to get Tank the help he needed kept me going, and reminded me of my own strengths. . . Tank will be in the hospital for a couple days to make sure his numbers stay where they are, and luckily the draining is the surgical site is coming to an end! We need to raise this portion of Tank’s hospital stay, which is expected to be around $2,000 including the transfusion. I didn’t get a chance to ask last night, so hopefully we can pull this off now! . . VNMO; HHHHFR24 PYPAL.
