I studied French for 4 years. i remember just enough to be able to communicate with people from Haiti. A few weeks ago my BLS crew thought the elder dementia pt was aphasic and having a stroke. Turns out he just didn't understand what they saying. They looks on their their faces when the pt spoke back to me on French 😆😆😆

I’m a polyglot but Spanish is not one of them. I am learning Spanish from my coworkers AND my patients. 😂I have no shame in asking “how do you say….”

Same thing with sign language. I was tickled to get a deaf patient. Only downside, as soon as ERs found out, I would get dispatched to ER a lot to interpret. Kinda dropped off after the advent of face time & video calling.
