My neighbor growing up had an entire massive alter to her passed husband. Took up an entire wall with a massive traditional portrait. Decorated to the nine, candles, rosaries, everything. When she got remarried in her backyard, to a very nice man. they lit his candles together before the ceremony, and put the first slice of cake on his alter. 😭

my grandma is greek orthodox. This year she sent me a picture of a special cake she made "for health and healing". It's a part of a tradition where you put your intention into the cake and share it with others so they get the blessing too. Meanwhile I'm in the broom closet to her 😂
