I get what people saying about her needing to mention that the cake wouldn’t look exactly like the inspo photo, but let’s be real if you’re not a baker, you can’t really speak on what’s realistic. Why would anyone expect another baker to recreate someone else’s exact work?
And even then, when the customer said she didn’t like how the bags looked or that the money should’ve been greener, the baker was willing to fix it. The customer chose to cancel before giving her that chance. She wanted a full refund and still wanted a cake she wanted both. And that’s not how it works. If you read someone’s policy and agree that deposits are non-refundable, you can’t turn around expecting all your money back. She was lucky to even get half, because most bakers wouldn’t refund anything once work has started.
Also, if you really know what a 10-inch cake looks like, then you know that’s not what was pictured. A 10-inch cake costs more because it feeds more people. She told the baker 15 people not 15 to 20, not 15 to 30 just 15. That’s why she got quoted for a 7-inch cake. The only real miscommunication here came from the customer’s side.
At the end of the day, she tried to make the baker look bad instead of taking accountability. The baker even said this was the first time something like this has happened. If you don’t like something, there’s a professional way to handle it not bashing someone online.
Y’all don’t pull this same energy with Walmart or Sam’s Club. You get what you get and keep it moving. Small business bakers pay for everything out of pocket supplies, time, labor so yes, it’s going to cost more. If you want grocery store prices, stick to grocery store cakes.
