I’m autistic and my parents made me walk for HS graduation so I didn’t even tell them when my college graduation was so I could avoid going 😅

i had panic attack at my walking across the stage. i think it’s overrated tbh. i was supposed to leave the auditorium as an accommodations and they didn’t let me leave. my autism (and anxiety) did not like.

It's okay for people to speak about things not being the way they hoped.... The situation will always be different due to her severe autism this does not mean that she will not do things just not in the way her sister hoped

I love that you know her limits with school activities and do what’s best for her and her peers and not what some parents do and push for the inclusion even when it’s not a space for the students would thrive in.

My kiddo, who is on the spectrum graduated this last June he went up and received his diploma on the stage and then ran off the field because he was so overwhelmed. I don’t blame him. It was loud. It was a lot.

Thank you for not making her do those things just because everyone else is doing those things. So many times…. so many times I have helped a student get through something like that and they were so traumatized. You’re a damn good mama.
