one of the hardest things about adhd/autism for me is the CONSTANT search for something more, the next best thing, the next dopamine hit etc.  I put everything in my life on hold and will even accidentally compromise my health/wellbeing for the sake of the latest goal/project I’m working towards. It’s just always been this way for me, my brain just gets so locked in on one thing that everything else falls behind, and right now I’m spread so thin I’m forgetting I actually have a live to live. Now as I get older, I’m slowly realising that those moments I’m overlooking in pursuit of my future goals are actually the most precious moments which make up my life. My parents are getting older, my family dog passed away this year, and it makes me sad that I’ve accidentally deprioritised my family and friends in the process of working towards achieving goals.  It’s so hard to take a step back when your brain is so overwhelmed and feels like it’s in survival mode just trying to get to the next step in life.  If you feel the same way I think it’s important not to be too hard on ourselves, because our brains our literally wired to look for that next dopamine hit in whichever form we’ve decided. It’s so easy to lose track of what’s important in life (I do it all the time and need to constantly remind myself).  This is just a lil reminder that it’s okay for you to pause, take a step back, realise how far you’ve come, allow yourself to enjoy the moment and prioritise the things that matter the most to you in life. #adhd #autism #audhd #autisticadult #actuallyautistic
