When my friend and I were younger we went for an interview and entrance exam to join the police force. While we had a break in the cafeteria we could hear conversations from the police, we were very shocked to hear the racist remarks they were making. I decided not to proceed with my application even though I had passed everything, my friend went on to do a basic training period but he left after that finished as he said it was a toxic atmosphere. Not that it should have any bearing on things, we are both white and born here, neither of us could ever say or do things that we heard that day.

no shock here either.During the miner's strike the meters hated the Met being there..they'd kick over their brazers, be abusive towards them, unlike the Lancashire constabulary who used to give the miners their lunches and treat them as equals.

I used to work for them at the station that was featured until I took redundancy. I'm not shocked. Some of the things I heard on a daily were dreadful. Not just officers but civil staff too. So glad I'm out. 15 years I worked for the Met.
