It’s not about the money—it’s about the principle. He charged me $60 just to go to the hotel next to Zorlu Mall, claiming it was because of the “long ride.” Every ride turns into an argument. Then, after agreeing to take me to the Grand Bazaar, he threatened to drop me off in the middle of the road if I didn’t pay what he suddenly demanded. I’m sorry, but there’s just no honesty anymore. It’s always the same story. Even in restaurants, as soon as they realize you don’t speak Turkish, they double the price. Honesty is a beautiful thing—prices shouldn’t change just because people do. I don’t trust them, and you shouldn’t feel bad about that either.

Scam is everywhere and we have to fight regardless of $1 $2 $3.... $1000s dollars. Taxis in that country they work on meter and they make sure to run around the city without point to get the meter run more than fair amount.

I spent 2.5 weeks in Turkey, different cities and used Taxi often and never was scammed. It was exactly as much as we agreed upon. In Mardin taxi driver wouldn’t even accept the tip. He gave me such nice history lesson on Mardin/MIdyat and the whole area and I said jokingly tip is for history lesson, he said no Miss, just come back to our country.❤️🇹🇷

It’s always good to travel to a country if you speak the language or if you have a local if not no matter where you go there is a chance you’ll be used and scammed it’s something you have to deal with it or learn fast

You’re absolutely right. I have been to Turkey many times and I have always been taken cab to sultan Ahmad and going rate is between 500-700 Turkish Lira.

That was exactly what happened to me in Istanbul in a day light from airport to my hotel, the driver kept going on highway and that’s why he charged me 500 lira. It’s not only $12 dollars it’s the principle

He must be from smaller towns in USA and not New York which causes you for 25 miles ride almost $100.00 and maybe he must looked in social media which indicates for 40 minutes ride is about $6.00

I Had the Best Experience From Fatih Hagia Sophia to Istanbul Airport just $35 and I Tip him 25$ in 2022, it’s Nearly 45 Mile So it was Way Decent and We had the Best Conversation Ever and Really Enjoyed it.
