people who were diagnosed early will never understand what its like to grow up knowing there is something wrong with you but not knowing what it is and getting absolutely no help with it

I got diagnosed in elementary. I was stereotypical. I was bullied for my presentation and inability to mask. I WISH I WAS YOU.

diagnosed early, still misunderstood, discriminated, bullied, looked at like a freak. it doesn't change anything, just leaves you with confusion and shame.

Never gon get that diagnosis cause my parents believe mental illnesses mean you’re a demon sent from hell cursed and need to be exorcised or sent to a psychiatric hospital for the rest of your life.

People disagreeing are not taking all factors into consideration ✌️💔 YES , an early diagnosis doesn’t mean life is easy and people immediately accommodate someones needs , but it DOES mean that they don’t spend years not knowing what was wrong and later developing other issues from that trauma, and not having to go through the gruelling process of diagnosis later on and the additional issues that brings . People’s inability to understand nuance in conversations like this are so annoying like omfg 🫩

i got diagnosed with ADD but was never told that ADHD AND ADD are really the same thing and thought me and my brothers had two different things they had ADHD i had ADD. i was quite they were loud and always running around, but my mental state got bad and i developed terrible anxiety and depression from the spirals my mind would go down i would be stressed and just disassociate into this little house i created in my head where my life was perfect and i had a whole family

Diagnosed in elementary but was continuously ignored during secondary because I was “high functioning” and quite.

i could’ve been so much more authentic. so many years wasted creating an impossible standard for myself. so many years wasted masking trying to be “normal” but still being out casted because i can only mask what i notice. i was more commonly pushed aside than directly bullied so i never knew what i was doing wrong or how to fix myself and it ate me alive. just got diagnosed last month. i never needed to be fixed, i needed to be understood and supported :(
