25 year retail manager here. It’s hard to find people, but it’s such a relief to fire someone who needs to be fired. I’d rather work short handed than have someone toxic on the team.

Fortunately, I've only ever worked with 2 people I actively disliked before. I was out of town when one got fired. But the second one i shared an office with and she came in after a meeting holding back tears and said "they're letting me go", clearly looking for sympathy. I just said "huh... wow".

I've never said it's sad when a co-worker that I didn't like was let go I was always happy... hell the guy that trained me to run my machine was teaching me wrong. so it took me a long time to get that he was teaching me wrong and to learn how to use my machine on purpose. and when I found out he was in the hospital cuz he had a heart attack (he lived by the way). I wasn't sad at all
