I am an old man now. But I will always just be a poor hard working farm kid. A young adult who volunteered to serve my country and did so for 10 years and a soul full of combat, a body, brain and heart broken that would lead to disability. A changed, more aware man who gave 25+ years in continued service in Public Health. Now with my wake behind me am an old man wondering if any of it mattered. Then I heard students voicing our pledge. I joined under my breath and spoke the last line with them. With FREEDOM and JUSTICE for ALL. Sir, in your words, I continuously hear it echo. And yes I stand a bit straighter, sometimes moved to tear. Yes, my life was a call and response to, LIBERTY and JUSTICE for ALL. Yes. ALL. Thank you sir

So much lack of empathy and common decency from the right to the left has destroyed who we are as neighbors, friends, and relatives. I had to bow out from friends and family who feel no care or concern for struggling fellow Americans, women’s rights, LGBTQ rights, and immigrants. I remember who they were before, but now I see the true colors of who they are, and it’s heartbreaking. I thought they were like me but they are not, and I am thankful I am not them.

I love your messages. Do you ever send them to the media or your representatives in congress and senate? They need to know how people feel about the current state of the country. The country is being destroyed by a criminal and his corrupted enablers. Congress needs to invoke the 25th immediately.
