@minhealthtt: The Honourable Dr. Rishad Seecheran, Minister in the Ministry of Health, delivered the Feature Address on October 1st at the Geriatric Society of Trinidad and Tobago’s(GSTT) commemoration of the International Day of Older Persons. The event was also attended by Minister in the Ministry of Public Utilities, the Honourable Clyde Elder and Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services Senator Dr. Natalie Chaitan-Maharaj. This year’s theme, “Older Persons Driving Local and Global Action: Our Aspirations, Our Well-being, Our Rights,” underscores the belief that older persons are entitled to dignity, inclusion, healthcare and protection not as privileges, but as fundamental rights. During the ceremony, several older persons from diverse fields, including health, education, agriculture, culture and religion, were honoured for their contributions. Minister Seecheran graciously participated in the presentation of the awards and was also honoured by the GSTT for his participation.
