The topic of weight is not always relevant to a health issue, but it is usually a factor if not the cause. type 2 diabetes is absolutely diet/weight relevant.

I lost 50lbs and then gained some back and now I’m losing it again. It’s most def a choice. It comes down to discipline. Eat less and find a physical activity you like. For me it was basketball.

A lot of people like to complain about genetics. I am overweight and find it hard to lose weight. I maintain a healthy diet, but still allow myself to fulfill some of my cravings. My doctor has never once mentioned my weight because we have already established that I do work out. I am active. And I do maintain a good diet. I’m not prediabetic. I’m not diabetic. I don’t have high cholesterol or high blood pressure. Am I losing weight? Yes. Is it my goal to be “skinny”? No. My goal is to be healthy and stay alive.

As someone who had a lot of respiratory infections, joint pains, general malaise and just sick a lot and felt bad, then lost 100lbs and miraculously I have none of that now lol. My heart issue also corrected with adequate cardio exercise.

As a plus size girl, I agree with him 100%. I admit that I am overweight and I am planning to go on a weight loss journey because I know it's unhealthy

I had my doctor tell me I was going to get fat if I didn’t take my thyroid medicine! It’s honesty and we need to hear it

I have no issue with my doctor bringing up my weight because I know I need to change and I am trying. however everyone on the Internet thinks they are experts when it comes to obesity. anyone any shape and size can be unhealthy. however me being overweight has literally zero effect on your life. me existing is not "glamorizing" obesity. if it was so easy to lose weight nobody would be fat. and no I'm not fat because I eat 24/7. it's Many factors but so many fatphobic people use to realize that.

Once when I was actually thin, possibly in the 70’s (kgs) I once had a doctor call me overweight and denied my request for some blood tests because I had been quite unwell. It was very confronting

I definitely agree that if your obesity is most likely the root cause of the problem, doctors should definitely be asking you and addressing that. But she’s not 100% wrong, sometimes overweight people will go into doctors for completely unrelated issues (like a sty or however you spell it) and doctors will dismiss it and blame it on their weight.
