A lot of people need to understand how many police officers get in the job for the violence and power..psych evaluations need to be annual and they need to test for psychopathic tendencies. Too many enjoy being able to harm people without consequences.

Police officers are some of the most broken and disturbed individuals walking around with a badge. Racism and sexism are not accidents in their ranks, they are symptoms of the twisted personalities that get drawn to the job in the first place. These are people who spent their school years powerless, ignored, overlooked and humiliated, and now they chase the uniform because it finally gives them authority, control and the ability to dictate to others. When they see someone who reminds them of those they envied or hated back then, the popular kids, the strong personalities, the beautiful women who dismissed them, their bitterness resurfaces and they lash out with that authority in ways that no policy or law can truly restrain. I will never feel safe around the police, no matter what legislation is written or how much PR spin is put on community policing. Until psychological evaluations are mandatory both before joining and on a random ongoing basis, the public will remain at the mercy of damaged individuals hiding behind the shield. One officer is dangerous enough, but a group of them together is a threat to safety, not a guarantee of it. The truth is simple, until the force is purged of its weak minded, power hungry cowards, no one with sense should ever trust them.
