One of the most important factors that determine whether an applicant qualifies is their academic grades, particularly their results from the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) or Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE). 1. Army Academic Requirements For those applying to the Army, the minimum academic requirement is D7 or better in your subjects. This means that if you have grades ranging from A1 to D7 in your core and elective subjects, you are eligible to apply. The Army provides the widest opportunity for applicants since it accepts grades down to D7. However, this does not mean all roles are open to D7 holders. Certain specialist branches within the Army, such as medical, signals, engineering, and band, may demand stronger grades such as C6 or better. Disqualification: E8 and F9 One of the most important rules in the GAF recruitment process is that E8 and F9 are not accepted under any circumstances. Even if you have excellent grades in your electives, once your core subjects—especially English, Mathematics, and Integrated Science—include an E8 or F9, you will not qualify for enlistment.
