this is the take Ive been saying for years. too many.Mormons (specifically) have no idea how much theyre hated by the people they buddy up to.

Our church reminds people every year to not vote straight party tickets, that good candidates can be from any party, to research the issues, and elect leaders who represent our values. But I don't think many really take the invitation to heart cause that's once a year and they're watching Fox News everyday.

As a Utahn you might see the same thing I’ve been seeing. Most Mormons (and other Christians as well) identify more with republicanism than with their faith. If the Law of Consecration was enacted tomorrow I think 90% would straight revolt.

former president of the Mormon Church, Ezra Taft Benson, was EXTREMELY political and EXTREMELY right-wing. just look up his opinions on MLK Jr. this is a long standing Mormon political bent.

This is what I've been saying!! I also live in a state that is predominantly Mormon and it blows my mind how many people I know that not only support Trump but support this idea of Christian Nationalism. I keep saying "That doesn't include you!" The Christian Nationalists don't see them as Christian and that should be a big deal.

I’m a member and it is so frustrating how complacent other members can be about politics and these issues. Serving one another includes making sure our neighbors aren’t being illegally detained and fighting for the right for others to choose with their own agency. So many members (especially here in Utah) think they won’t be affected by Christian nationalism, but the truth is that Evangelical extremests do not see us as Christian (even though we are by definition). We will not be spared in this insane fall into fascism.

As an exmormon who grew up outside of Utah/the jello belt, I am extremely aware of how other denominations view Mormons. I have been extremely uncomfortable with the cozying up to mainstream and especially evangelical Christianity. They are NOT your friends.
