Hey friend! I wouldn't try to reintroduce the babies to momma if she does get aggressive with them. She won't think they're hers, especially once they're older. Good luck! 🐣

Introduce them at night in total darkness. If she wakes up with them she has a higher chance of accepting them

I would say put them by themselves in the nursery when you’re ready and make sure the other chickens can see and hear them.. but I would not introduce them to the flock again until they are fully feathered and ready.

just a heads up.. they are gonna kick their bedding in the water and food constantly. I had to put mine up on round stepping stones, not too tall so they could still get to it, but enough so the bedding didn't fly up in it. I got tired of cleaning it out every 20 minutes lmao! 🤣

Did you put rocks in the water dish? I heard you're meant to so they don't drown in it

Suggestion for the water and food: make it elevated from the shavings. Without it elevated, the babies kick the shavings in and it makes it so you have to change it multiple times a day.

My mother hen, Kendall accepted her baby and they still stay together very often. At first I just watched to see how she acted towards baby and she didn’t show any signs of aggression. I just blocked them off from the other chickens.

So I was always told to put babies in with momma at night; like stick them under her when you move them to the nursery

After taking them for a few weeks she may not except them back. she would do better to just have them from the very start. She will take care of them properly.

My hens have been good moms. I didn’t need to remove them. I would only remove the ones that the mom is being aggressive with. She may be good with all of them. If you take them away right away and try to reintroduce, she won’t have a bond with them anymore. Really good momma’s take care of babies. You really don’t have to do anything except enjoy watching them. Good luck!

You can put some rocks in the water, then they can’t drown in the water.
