Call on them, give them the question and tell them you will give them a second to gather their thoughts and come back to them. This promotes student interaction while still allowing time for the student to process the question and recall the answer or find the answer.

I'm normally the load kid who always puts my hand up so if I haven't and you look at me I'm gonna be anxious cos I didn't know the answer or I'm trying to focus on breathing so I don't have a panic attack or meltdown

I would give an initial heads up to the class about this so they know that it might happen to them. Especially since a lot of folks took a hit after COVID. Some was social, but many of us had cognitive issues as well. It’s not insurmountable or anything but maybe that’s part of the issue 🤷♀
