My husband is super independent. I wake up to a whole clean house on the weekends lol he also doesn't ask what's for dinner he just starts cooking it. Ladies it exists.

But like how? I agree 100% but how to take the step without driving MYSELF insane. Only child, has always had women just picking up messes and laying out his solutions for him. Adore the guy…but how do we break the pattern?

I did that in the first five years of marriage. And then I just stopped doing any of it. I am much happier now in my marriage now that I have stopped "mothering" him.

I’ve started having my 8yo son make lists for himself and of things he wants to do. I’m not raising a boy to be 2000% reliant on my brain. While I’ll still mommy him, he’s learning these are life responsibilities he will need without the help of anyone else as a big boy lol

I grew up seeing my dad being the provider and my mom tending to him (cooking, cleaning, laundry etc). They were both happy together nonetheless. It’s a tricky subject if you want to be the type of woman to take care of him so he can take care of the family. Do I like reminding him? No. Does he try to remember? Yes. If picking up after him can help him feel more at ease in his mind with everything that men have got going on in their minds and are not able to talk about it, then I’ll do it. That’s my way of loving him. (He’s not a messy person but I’m just throwing an example). It’s all about communicating your expectations in a relationship.

The only thing I have to remind him of are his appointments. It’s nice to not have to mother my partner. He remembers everything. I wake up to my morning tea and breakfast on my days off.

He says “I don’t have to do everything on your schedule”…. But if you don’t do it then it rolls into the next thing that needs to be done etc etc. if you don’t do it now then our daughter wont have clean plates when it’s fine for her to eat etc
