fun albums are short n sweet, man’s best friend, brat, midwest princess etc. because they stuck to a theme and were sonically enjoyable. they also didn’t have intense lyricism but they were fun because they were unique and enjoyable. showgirl lacks everything that would make it fun: theme, whitty lyrics, unique sound.

These comments are not it. This album is amazing in the way it lets us see through Taylor’s eyes in how she’s experiencing life. It’s raw and emotion and mostly happy, but BECAUSE OUR GIRL IS OVERDUE TO GET TO BE GLITTERPEN HAPPY. Like damn

the album isn't giving showgirl either it feels like a parody. i thought she's going to change genre (jazz) or tap in to burlesque pop bc that's what she marketed the album to be. the disappointment of the fans is reasonable.

although i kinda agree, i feel like lets js be real, these arent really the types of songs everyones gonna listen to on the radio nor are they grammy worthy, the sound although is pop and fun, its still really rough and weird at parts 😭 theres no real nuance to the music for it to be considered hits for non swifties (even swifties themselves), and also taking into consideration that tiktok and ig is so relevant for music popularity these days, so i would understand if she made something for that purpose but literally none of the songs will be hits here. its actually sad asf cus ik she has sm potential especially for pop and fun type music but this just isnt it and its making swifties give up on defending her cause wtf was eldest daughter bro

Ok but 1989 sounds good sonically and it’s polished. This album needed like ten more rounds of editing and most of the songs were not interesting sonically. I also think that TTPD (and to a much lesser extent midnights) could have used more thought and an editing eye. If this album was midnights and you just made the same comments I’d agree because there were catchy radio songs like anti-hero and lavender haze and bejeweled but this had none of that for me except maybe fate of Ophelia. I don’t necessarily think that TTPD or this album deserve Grammies because they feel half baked and rushed in different ways (TTPD she could have cut some songs, here she could have slowed down and spent more time). I don’t think this is one of her pb sandwiches because it’s not yummy lol.
