Equally starving, without free speech, sexism still existed and corruption was in full power. They just needed a bigger work force: women got jobs and no abortion rights(in my country at least). One “good deed” (which idek if it’s true that it was the first regime to do that but it does not matter) does not erase all the other hundreds of bad deeds.

Why is it that the furthest people from an (ex)-communist state, the more supportive they are? I sure do wonder why Eastern europeans, the ones that actually lived under communism, despise it with a passion (hint: it’s not “CIA propaganda”)

Except nothing actually changed patriarchal power just shifted from the husband in the household to the state. Yes, they were equal in writing but nowhere else. Women were forced to work by the state but they were also the ones who did almost all housework introducing a double burden that didn’t exist before making life harder for women. Thus, u can’t just say that communism is good bcs it gave women rights u have to go further and actually see if those rights were implemented.

even under communism/socialism, women were expected to contribute to the collective labor ON TOP of already taking care of all of the household and childcare. also, SA and PDFilia were still normalized, and abortions were widely banned, so they could boost the population for more workers. basically, women only got all the responsibilities and zero rights of their own bodies, which resulted in multiple undocumented deaths from dangerous procedures. it's not the utopia that you fantasize about, unfortunately.

Comunism also destroys my country and my people. My gramothers aunt was send to a labour camp in Siberia. Where she was enslaved with many others. When she came back she was almost dead from malnourishment…….. comunism is horrible. It destroyed the economy and people.
