as someone who didn't really play TCGS growing up. MTG initial learning curve is high. there's a lot of reading you'd have to do in the beginning. my best piece of advice. find one other person who'd like to play (new or not) and find some starter kit (usually 2 60 card decks) highly recommend foundations starter box (enough in there to build multiple 40 card decks so there a ton of variety) and just play with that. work through the motion. how your turn goes, combat and how instances/enchaments/socery works. commander is a mouthful of information to take in at once. you got worrry about (usually 3) other people's boards along with yours. and it's especially difficult when you're still trying to figure out your own.

I just played my... 3rd house game?
I'm a new commander player. I have a final fantasy/Tidus Deck.
lands are the mana/cost to summon/cast/use any card in the game. blue for blue, red for red, white for white. all color land/mana can be used for colorless costs(even colorless mana)
later you'll see cards like sol ring, arcane signet which are items that GENERATE mana
the colors of the decks are play styles. I don't know enough but I've WON GAMES

i would recommend reading what each ability does and seeing what color fits with what you want. like death (black) are mainly destroy cards and things that bring stuff back from the dead! arenas is good way to learn that specific gamemode but most play commander

honestly as someone who played for years and years I can't in good faith recommend to play magic to anyone new. There are better games out there that are more worth your time imo

the professor (tolarian community college) has a very palatable series of videos on how to do things and some vocab. plus his shuffle up and play series is very much meant for anyone to sit and watch.
vocab and phases in your turn are the best thing to learn up front. it can be a lot, but vocab and knowing each phase will make each step a lot easier to take in.

For a start 30 to 34 lands is a good start when you play commander and also I’m still kinda a beginner but i found friends who play with optimized decks and they taught me all combos and loop holes I can do and I still be asking questions

Different colors in Magic do different things. Mono-"whatever color" just means you play a deck with only that color in it. Helps you learn what each color is good at. Red wants to kill your opponent fast. White wants to put a lot of creatures on board and gain life. Blue wants to control the game and prevent your opps from doing stuff. Green is just dummy thicc creatures and putting extra lands on the field. Black wants to kill all your opps creatures and bring back stuff from the grave.

tbf bruh, mtg arena kinda fucks you over, standard (the 60 card format) is what they force you to get into but having 4 copies of the same card youre forced into one strategy. i always think commander is the right way to into the game but thats hard if you dont got friends irl or want to spend wayyyyy too much money on arena to get wild cards/one set to build a commander deck. but then ts forces you to read, and on arena, they give an explanation on what each effect does on a card. do you got anything specific that dont make sense and i might be able to explain it

People that are seasonal players still have to ask questions and learn new things about the game sometimes because Wizards of the coast likes to add new mechanics every couple sets. Once you understand the basics, it’s pretty fun though.
