My Typical Newborn Schedule: • 8:30 am - Wake/Feed • 10:00 am - Nap • 12:00 pm - Wake/Feed • 1:30 pm - Nap • 4:00 pm - Wake/Feed • 6:00 pm - Nap • 7:00 pm - Tank-Up time • 10:00 pm - Bedtime My Best Newborn Schedule Tips: • Follow sleep and eating cues to determine how often baby needs to eat. Usually every 3-4 hrs.  • Try to align baby's feeding times around lifestyle, Example: other children's nap times, work schedule, errands, etc.  • General schedule: 1 hr wake/feed, 2 hrs nap.  • During feeds, take breaks to burp to prevent bubbles in tummy and also, to keep them awake for a full feeding  • Give dry diaper halfway through feeding to help baby stay awake for full feeding  • Avoid short feeds/snacking all day long  • Develop a sleep time pattern with sleep cues. Example: binky, swaddling, rocking, etc • Avoid feeding to sleep, as it will offset the next feeding time • Switch up sleeping area/environment. Example: Bassinet, bouncer, bed, couch, baby wearing/holding, etc.  • If baby wakes before next feeding, attempt to get them back to sleep. If baby is not sleeping, then feed and adjust the schedule for the rest of the day. • Towards the evening, follow a more baby-led schedule vs. parent-led. They may want to eat less but more often, they may want to stay awake more, they may want more contact naps. I call this tank up time. Follow baby's cues until bedtime. • For the last feeding of the day, make sure it's a full feeding, keep lights low, change diaper, give sleep cue, and tuck into bed. • For middle of the night feedings, keep lights low/off with little movement/commotion.
