What if you looked at it as a “team work” project with your daughter and once you gather her hair ask her to just hold it in the place you need it (like all the times you are trying to get her fine hair to stay in your non dominant arm and under your chin) you could ask her “can you hold this here for mommy so I can get a better grip?” Or something like that??? My mom had both her hands but i had so much hair in grade school she HAD to ask me to hold some up for her at times

okay hear me out! get a small vacuum hose with the smallest hair tie around it, suck the hair up and push the hair tie off the vacuum.

Her hair is fine and silky, my daughters curls are the same! I find wetting the hair makes it easier to grip and it’ll stay in the place you lay it with the brush. Maybe dampening her whole head, brushing her hair back and maybe even see if she can help by leaning her head back (it’ll help you get the pony higher on her head, especially cause her front looks a bit shorter).

i know this might not be the most functional but i cant help but think of the trend where dads were using the vaccum attachment to suction the hair up and then roll the hairband from off the attachment onto their hair!! it may be worth a shot just to do it❤
